Economic Development

Local authorities, in partnership with Central Government, have a responsibility to shape and deliver local economic development strategies, invariably calling upon a range of specialist external partners to support regeneration, job creation, and prosperity. These can range from lower value professional services assignments, to enterprise development and inward investment initiatives, to major multi-million-pound, long term urban renewal schemes.

Derby City Council

We provided an investment and development resource cover which included: directly account managing strategic local employers planning inward investment and job creation; maintaining Council relationships with key stakeholders (e.g. UKTI, MAS, and SEMTA); providing secretariat support to the Derby Enterprise Growth Board (DEGB), and; collaborating with the Midlands Aerospace Alliance to deliver a local strategic event for the aerospace sector.

North East Lincolnshire Council

We completed a final evaluation study of the Council’s ERDF funded Local Enterprise Growth Initiative (LEGI) programme, branded as the E-Factor, aimed to enhance enterprise and improve SME start‐up rates in deprived areas. Our evaluation included interviews with E-Factor Board members, a literature review, and group based interviews with both E-Factor beneficiary businesses, and a wider group of relevant local stakeholders.
